What about a Game?

I know it's been a looong time that I don't write anything here, but I have a good reason for that: I was developing my first game, and the experience was awesome.

Her Science Stories Logo

Her Science Stories is an App designed to rescue stories from female scientists who have been made invisible through History and use these stories as inspiration to show women that they can make a difference in science fields and pursue careers in these areas.

Each story is told using gaming-based interactions so the user has to discover which interaction will allow to go to the next scene, take for example the scene below in which the user must polish the trophy in order to see the next interaction.

Now that you guys know what I was working on, let's talk about how was my experience this time.

Experiences

This was probably caused by the ethnography that we had to do, but I felt that this time the CBL phase went deeper, and I could enjoy more this part of the experience.

Another great point on this challenge was the decision that we made as a group to not develop just another App that would try to help to solve some theme, but to do something different. That's when the Game idea came into mind, using all the data we had collected and also some past experiences from team members. This idea let the project lighter and boosted good feelings during the App Development.

Also, based on my past Apps here at the Academy I decided that the right thing to do was to focus only on one specific part of the process that I wanted to learn during the Act phase of CBL. When we decided what we wanted to do I realized I didn't know how to program most of the necessary things, so I let the Design for the experts and focused on programming.

I can tell that this was possibly the best decision I've made because I learned a lot about things that will be very useful soon (WWDC 2022, wait for me). It was also helpful to understand better how Apple Documentation works and I could get more used to it 😁

The teamwork was great, everyone gave the best of themselves so we could deliver the best MVP we could. Thank you, guys ❤️
